The SYNS offers up to four annual training courses and serves as an open platform for resident doctors to exchange experiences and represent their interests at national and international levels.

05.06.2026: 4th Compression Fractures Workshop

Discover the latest in vertebral augmentation techniques at the SYNS Compression Fracture Workshop on June 5th, 2026, in collaboration with Fribourg Hospital.

Tailored for neurosurgeons and orthopedic surgeons, this course combines expert-led sessions on vertebroplasty, balloon kyphoplasty, and advanced methods like Tektona and SpineJack with live surgery demonstrations and hands-on training. Perfect your skills through interactive stations focusing on transpedicular approaches, cement injection, and kyphoplasty.

23. - 24.06.2026: 4th SYNS Neuro-Endoscopy Course

Join a cutting-edge workshop tailored for surgeons seeking to advance their skills in endoscopic spine and cranial surgery

The first day focuses on spinal endoscopy, with separate monoportal and biportal modules (you can choose only one of them, depending on your interests or center-practice). Participants will explore endoscopy fundamentals, learn through student-directed sessions, and engage in practical training on realistic spine models. 

The second day is dedicated to cranial endoscopy, starting with lectures on transnasal approaches, extended techniques, and endoscopic management of conditions such as hydrocephalus and intraventricular tumors. Participants will train the approaches on cadavers in a wet lab session. The main focus of the pratical part will be on transnasal transsphenoidal approaches.

Focused talks on fundamentals of up-to-date spine surgery for residents and young consultants, explained by a top-class faculty.

Join us for the SYNS Vascular Symposium 2026 – Focus on Cerebrovascular Neurosurgery!

We are delighted to invite neurosurgical residents and young consultants to the next edition of the SYNS Vascular Symposium, an international educational meeting dedicated to learning, discussion, and multidisciplinary exchange in vascular neurosurgery.

This year’s theme: Cerebrovascular Surgery and Neurovascular Management – from Decision Making to Real Clinical Practice

Held from September 25th to 27th, 2026, in the beautiful setting of Hotel de la Paix Lugano, the symposium will gather leading neurosurgeons, interventional neuroradiologists and international vascular specialists for three days of highly interactive education. It is specifically designed to encourage active participation, critical thinking, and practical learning through open discussion and exchange of experience between faculty and participants.

  • High-level lectures by renowned vascular neurosurgeons and neurointerventional specialists
  • Interactive debates on real clinical cases

Young Neurosurgeons Abstract Contest 2026

Young neurosurgeons and residents are invited to submit their vascular neurosurgery abstracts and present their work during a dedicated interactive session. The best presentation will be awarded with the “Best Abstract SYNS Vascular Symposium 2026” prize, selected by the faculty panel.
